Our Malaga Wine Tour to boutique red/white wine cellars just a stones throw from the city of Málaga. Taste awarded red blends, as well as dry (not sweet) white wines made with Moscatel – the native grape to Malaga!
Think Malaga is only about sweet wine? Think again! Visit tour and taste at two boutique wine cellars close to Malaga city producing both red and white wines. Malaga has long been famous for its tradition of sweet wine and sherry, made from Moscatel and Pedro Ximenez varieties. However, the region is under a revival thanks to the introduction of many more sophisticated red and white wines as well! The Crianza and Reserva reds being blends from from grapes such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while the excellent dry (not sweet) whites are produced with Moscatel.
These wine cellars are located 30-45 mins from Malaga, where sufficient altitude and other conditions, such as climate, weather, sunlight and nutrients produce both good red and white wines. The suitability for Andalucia as a exemplary wine growing region can be confirmed by the presence of many pioneering Spanish winemakers, such as Telmo Rodríguez and others.
On the Malaga Wine Tour you will visit two cellars, both producing red and white wine, as well as an optional third cellar visit to a contrasting traditional Malaga sweet wine producer. Only around a half dozen sweet wine producers remain in the D/O Malaga region, in stark contrast to the heydey of Malaga sweet wine in the late 19th century (before the arrival of phylloxera to southern Spain, which totally decimated the local wine industry).
