With such wonderful wine, intimate boutique cellars and splendid historic scenery, no wonder visiting Ronda is a great day out!

Ronda wineries are mostly all passionate boutique family cellars with humble roots located across a small valley with exceptional terroir and micro-climate for producing highly regarded red wines, as well as fresh rosés, and a few notable white wines too.

The number of wineries you want to visit, and the time you wish to spend exploring Ronda old town is extremely flexible. If you are already familiar with the town of Ronda, then the Three Cellar Wine Tour is the best choice for focusing on wine tasting only.

Must See Ronda

When visiting southern Spain, one should not miss a visit to the historic town of Ronda.

Both displaying wonderful Moorish architecture and incredible views over the Tajo Gorge from the Puente Nuevo bridge that joins the Moorish old town and the newer El Mercadillo parts of the city.

And, of course, not forgetting the famous Ronda Bullring – the birthplace of modern bullfighting in Spain.

The Wine

Ronda is in fact an ancient wine region, with evidence of winemaking for many millennia from Phoenician and Roman times, but the whole surrounding region of Málaga was decimated by Phylloxera during the 1880’s

Today the boutique wineries produce mostly red wines from a wider variety of grapes than found elsewhere in Spain, all at an elevation of around 800m above sea level – proving that elevation matters.

Here you can sample highly acclaimed monovarietal and red blends from grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Petit Verdot, and Tempranillo, as well as ecological and even natural and low sulphite wines! During the heat of summer, chilled rosé and fresh whites are also popular tasting choices.
